How it all began

In October of 2018, Kerry and Robin met for the very first time ever at an Alzheimer's Awareness event at Coastal Wine Market in Nocatee .  Kerry’s mother had passed from Alzheimer’s and Robin’s mother was currently under care. An instant kinship/friendship was formed.  Later, the two would learn they had another connection; breast cancer, the previous year Kerry had lost her dearest friend/sister-in-law to breast cancer after a 20-year battle and Robin was a 2-year breast cancer survivor; needless to say, the cause was super important to both of them.

In March of 2019, Kerry and Robin walked The Players DONNA 5k together, where they ran into other friends from Nocatee, sparking the idea to start a neighborhood/community team.  They came up with the team’s name “NOC’n OUT BREAST CANCER,” designed a t-shirt and invited Nocatee friends and family to join them at the next race in October 2021. That year at TPC over 60 walkers showed up.  Inspired by such team spirit, Kerry and Robin decided to take it up a notch, turning everyone's pain into purpose by increasing team participation and help to raise awareness for breast cancer patient services and research.  They formed a Friend & Fundraising Committee and set a goal to raise $5,000 by October 2022.  Their amazing committee; made up of survivors and friends and family of those affected by breast cancer, ended up raising $10,000 doubling what they set out to do. 

As their team grows, Kerry and Robin choose to keep their friend and fundraising focus local because; they say, “HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS,” and there's a whole lot of heart in Nocatee!  The support the team has received from the community amazes them every day! Nocatee residents and businesses have truly joined them in the Fight to KNOCK OUT BREAST CANCER and TOGETHER THEY ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
